Laborers Recruit Apprentices

Glenmont, NY (July 30, 2018) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Eastern New York Laborers Training Center will conduct a recruitment from August 30, 2018 through August 29, 2019 for ten skilled construction craft laborer apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today. 

Please note that five openings are for the Albany area and five openings are for the Utica area. 

For Albany area apprentices, applications can be obtained on the third Friday of each month excluding legal holidays from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.at the Eastern New York Laborers Training Center, 666 Wemple Road, Glenmont, NY; the Eastern Contractors Association, 6 Airline Drive, Albany, NY; and at 348 Duanesburg Road, Schenectady, NY.  

For Utica area apprentices, applications will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the last Thursday of the month excluding legal holidays at 10 Main Street, Suite 205, Whitesboro, NY. 

NOTE: All applications must be completed on-site.

 The Committee requires that applicants: 

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. Apprentices may be required to operate company vehicles.
  • Must be a resident of New York State.
  • Must be able to work both day and evening shifts, as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work and classes.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
