College Hockey’s Regular Season Winds Down this Month

Lake Placid Gears Up to Host ECAC and NCAA D3 Championships

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- The men’s college hockey season is in its final push. The regular season is beginning to wind down, teams are jockeying for conference post-season position and bids to NCAA championship tournaments are on the line.

In March, Lake Placid, N.Y. plays host to two post season events, the ECAC Men’s Hockey Championship Tournament, March 18-19, and the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championship March 25-26, 2016. Both tournaments will be played in Lake Placid’s famed Herb Brooks Arena 1980 Rink.

Quinnipiac (20-1-5, 11-0-3), the number-one Division I team in the nation, is running away with the ECAC Hockey’s regular season crown. The conference leading Bobcats are six points (25 points to 19) ahead of seventh ranked and second seeded Harvard (12-4-3, 8-3-3) and seven in front of third seeded RPI. The Engineers (14-8-6, 6-2-6) are ranked 14th in this week’s USCHO.Com top-20 poll.

Eleventh ranked Yale (13-5-4, 7-4-3) hopes to make up some ground before the regular season closes on February 28. The fourth seeded Bulldogs have 17 points with six games remaining.

Adrian (17-2-1) and St. Norbert (16-2-1), both out of the NCHA Conference, are one and two in this week’s Division III USCHO.Com poll. The Bulldogs earned 14 first place votes in the weekly poll of 50 voters, including coaches, beat writers and sports professionals from across the country, while the Green Knights picked up six first place votes. 

Plattsburgh State (16-3-1) rounds out the top three schools, while Hobart (16-2-2) and Wisconsin-Stevens-Points (15-4-1) closes out the top five schools. 

Tickets for the ECAC Men’s Hockey Championship Tournament are on sale now. Single day tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for junior and seniors. All Tournament tickets are also available, $55 for adults and $45 for juniors and seniors.  

Single day and all event tickets are also available for the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championship Tournament. Adult single day tickets are priced at $22, while the junior/senior and student ticket is being sold for $16. The adult all tournament ticket is $35 and the junior/senior and student all tournament tickets can be purchased for $28.
