Quinnipiac and Yale Lead ECAC Hockey in Latest USCHO.Com Poll |

ALBANY, N.Y. --- The Quinnipiac men’s hockey team played a pair on non-league games last week. The Bobcats (13-2-2, 6-1-1) skated to a 3-3 tie against Providence, Wednesday, Nov. 27, and drubbed UMass, 6-1, Saturday, and held onto the number-five spot in this week’s USCHO.Com division I men’s ice hockey poll. Yale (6-2-2, 3-1-2), the reigning national champions, continued their climb in the weekly poll. The Bulldogs played just once last week, bouncing Merrimack 3-2 Saturday, and moved up one spot to number-eight. Clarkson (10-3-1, 4-2-0) hasn’t played since Nov. 16, but the Golden Knights closed out November with a 3-2 conference mark and remained 10th in this week’s poll. Union (8-3-2, 5-1-0), swept their two-game series at Penn State and climbed four spots to number-11. The Skating Dutchmen held off the Nittany Lions 4-3 in the series opener, Saturday, before skating to a come from behind win, 5-4, Sunday. Meanwhile Cornell (7-4-1, 4-3-1) posted a 1-1 record last week and slipped one spot to 15. The Big Red doubled up Niagara 4-2, Tuesday, but slipped to Boston University 3-2, Saturday. On March 21-22, the conference’s top four teams will face off in Lake Placid when the Olympic Center plays host to the 2014 ECAC Hockey men’s championships. Lake Placid last played host to the tournament from 1993-2002 and the event marks the 53rd overall conference championship. The four top teams coming from the league’s quarterfinal tournament round will battle it out on the ice looking to capture the Whitelaw Cup and an automatic bid to the 67th annual NCAA Division I men’s hockey tournament. The two semifinal games will take place Friday, March 21, at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and the championship game will be played Saturday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. All-session tickets can be purchased by calling the Lake Placid Olympic Center box office at 518-523-3330, or by visiting www.tickets.com.
