DEC TO HOLD APRIL 28 ISSUES CONFERENCE ON CWM LANDFILL PROPOSAL

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced an issues conference will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28 on CWM Chemical Services, LLC’s proposal to construct and operate a new landfill and ancillary facilities in the towns of Porter and Lewiston, Niagara County. The issues conference will be held at the Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church, 100 Church St., Youngstown, and will continue at this location on subsequent days as necessary.

The issues conference will determine whether to grant party status to individuals and organizations that filed petitions for party status, and will also define the scope of any issues that will require adjudication with regard to the permit applications pending before DEC and the certificate requested from the Facility Siting Board.

Participation in the issues conference will include DEC staff, the applicant and any individuals or groups that filed a petition for party status. Media and the public can attend the issues conference, but are not allowed to participate in the proceedings.
