The New York State Department of Labor today announced New York City’s Top Five Trending Jobs for 2015 -- selected by labor market analysts based on occupational survey data and the projected needs of their region.

 

The following job titles (and their annual median wage) are likely to see greater than normal growth through the end of 2015:

• Film & Video Editors ($70,420)
• Interpreters and Translators ($63,460)
• Meeting, Convention, & Event Planners ($59,690)
• Childcare Workers ($26,560)
• Software Developers, Applications ($107,300)

"Statewide, we’re seeing tremendous growth in many areas, especially in the technology and health care fields,” said Acting State Labor Commissioner Mario J. Musolino. “I highly encourage anyone looking for work or a new position to visit Governor Cuomo’s Jobs Express website and browse through the new listings that are added daily.”

 

The Jobs Express website (www.jobs.ny.gov) currently has tens of thousands of jobs available that can be sorted by region and occupation, and allows users to search jobs based on zip code and travel distance.

 

There is no fee to use the site for job seekers or businesses. In fact, by listing open positions on Jobs Express, businesses can save up to $6,000 per year. Businesses interested in listing their jobs should visit: www.labor.ny.gov/hire.

Since 2011, the state’s economy has added more than 500,000 to the private sector job count, which remains over 7.6 million - a historic high. The state’s economy has experienced employment growth in 40 of the past 47 months and this includes 22 consecutive months of private sector job growth, the state’s longest streak on record (current data go back to 1990).
