Today's Capital Concert Series Moved to Rain Location at Corning Preserve Boat Launch
Rob Base, CL Smooth, and Mr. Cheeks to Perform at Final Show of 2024 Capital Concert Series Presented by Miller Lite
What: Hip-hop artists Rob Base, CL Smooth, and Mr. Cheeks will perform at the final show of this year’s free Capital Concert Series Presented by Miller Lite. The concert will also feature the annual 518 DJ Battle.
Rob Base is an American hip-hop artist from Harlem, New York City, and is best known for the hip-hop staple “It Takes Two,” which was a top 40 hit and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
CL Smooth is a hip-hop artist from Mount Vernon, NY, and was responsible for penning some of hip-hop’s timeless classics, including “The Creator," “Straighten It Out," “Take You There,” and the landmark “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)” as part of his duo with Pete Rock.
Mr. Cheeks is a hip-hop artist from New York who made a name for himself as a member of the Lost Boyz in the mid-to-late ’90s. When he resurfaced, Mr. Cheeks released his debut solo album, John P. Kelly, which featured the massive hit single “Lights, Camera, Action.”
Where: Due to the forecast for inclement weather, the concert will take place at the Corning Preserve Boat Launch at Colonie Street and Water Street, under the I-787 overpass.
When: 5:30-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 31
