Whiteface Mountain Opens its 3rd Peakā€¦ Lookout Mountain

WILMINGTON, N.Y. (Feb. 6, 2018) – Whiteface Mountain, in Wilmington, N.Y., opened its third peak today for skiing and riding. The Wilmington trail, off Lookout Mountain is now open. The Wilmington trail, the northeast’s longest intermediate run, is 2.5-miles long, overlooking Wilmington’s Wild Forest.

Be one of the 14 skiers or snowboarders to participate in next Wednesday’s, Feb. 14, First Tracks. The Valentine's Day program will take seven couples, of intermediate or above skill level, on an early morning guided run. For more details, or to register, email the mountain’s guest services desk, ski@whiteface.com.

Next Saturday, Feb. 17, guests can join former Whiteface Mountain general manager, Bruce McCulley, on a Whiteface Olympic History Tour. This is a great opportunity to take an insider look at what it took to get the trails ready for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. Guests will be skiing and riding the Olympic runs, so expert ability is required.

Finally, if you are 50, or older, don’t miss out on the fun of the Snowboomer Club. The mountain’s Snow Sports School hosts the club, which is an athletic social ski group for alpine and Nordic skiers of all abilities. Participants are grouped by ability level and meet at J. LOHR Café in the Whiteface Base Lodge on Tuesdays. Check this program out at www.whiteface.com/lessons-programs/season-long-programs/senior-program.
