FREE POST-WORK WINTER FITNESS CLASSES BEING OFFERED AT THE PLAZA

Pre-Registration at EmpireStatePlaza.ny.gov Now Open

RoAnn Destito, New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner, today announced the winter version of the “Fitness at the Plaza” program presented by BlueShield of Northeastern New York, will offer free evening workout classes with Metabolic professional trainers in The Egg’s Hart Lounge at the Empire State Plaza from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursdays in January, February, and March, beginning January 9.

“By offering our popular Fitness at the Plaza program during the winter, The OGS team hopes to make it even easier for our friends and neighbors to keep their new year’s resolutions to be healthy and fit in 2020,” Commissioner Destito said. “Already a sponsor of our New York State Holiday Tree Lighting and Learn-to-Skate clinics at the Empire ‘Skate’ Plaza, BlueShield of Northeastern New York’s continued support for Fitness at the Plaza demonstrates what successful partnerships between the public and private sectors can achieve.”

“Each new year brings the opportunity to set positive health and wellness goals,” said Keith Dolan, Regional Executive, BlueShield of Northeastern New York. “BlueShield is proud to continue our partnership with Empire State Plaza to offer free fitness classes at the Plaza to help our community achieve those goals and get healthy without breaking the bank.”  

Fitness at the Plaza classes are free and open to individuals of all ages, regardless of fitness level or experience. All participants will be required to sign a waiver to participate. People are encouraged to pre-register at www.empirestateplaza.ny.gov to sign the waiver in advance and to be contacted regarding any updates to the schedule. Walk-ins are also welcome.
