New York State Department of Labor Announces 10,800 Hudson Valley Jobs Available on Jobs Express Website

Commissioner Rivera Encourages Job Seekers to Visit Debut of Interactive Jobs Express Booth at Palisades Center

New York State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera today announced that more than 10,800 jobs in the Hudson Valley Region are available on Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Jobs Express website (www.jobs.ny.gov). The site, which currently has more than 100,000 available positions listed, sorts jobs by region and occupation, and also allows users to search jobs based on zip code and travel distance.

The Department of Labor’s interactive Jobs Express booth will debut as part of the Palisades Center Job Fair on Wednesday, October 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. The fair will feature 30 Palisades Center businesses. At the Jobs Express booth, job seekers will be able to search through the thousands of available jobs in the region with one-on-one assistance from trained workforce development specialists.

Department of Labor staff will be on hand to assist jobseekers on the first level East Court common area (near Lord & Taylor):
Wednesday, October 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. (during the job fair)
Thursday, October 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, October 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We have seen tremendous success with Jobs Express from both businesses and job seekers – now we are bringing that service directly out into the community,” said Commissioner Rivera. “I encourage anyone looking for a job to stop by the Jobs Express booth and learn about available jobs in the region.”

In the Hudson Valley Region, nearly 900 businesses post openings on Jobs Express each month. The top job categories in the region are: sales; health care; management; transportation; and office and clerical. New businesses and job listings are added to the Jobs Express site every day.

Restorative Management Corp. in Newburgh uses Jobs Express to post their open positions. Department of Labor staff members then match qualified applicants to those positions.

“We have used this service on many occasions and each and every time I have found Department of Labor staff members to be professional, responsive and dedicated to finding a qualified person, with great follow up and wonderful customer service,” said Restorative Management Executive Director Jeffrey Spitz. “It is comforting to know that these resources are provided at no charge and that truly dedicated people are providing these services. In my mind, this is an absolutely indispensable service to the public.”

By listing open positions on Jobs Express, businesses can save up to $6,000 per year. Businesses interested in listing their jobs should visit: www.labor.ny.gov/hire.

Job seekers can find their nearest Career Center at: www.labor.ny.gov/career-center-locator.
