USA Luge’s Chris Mazdzer, Gordy Sheer &Mark Grimmette Conclude the Meet an Olympian Program Aug. 3 LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Two-time Olympic alpine medalist Andrew Weibrecht returned to the Lake Placid Olympic Museum, Thursday, July 27, for the second time to take part in the Meet an Olympian program. He was joined by his U.S. alpine teammate Cecily Decker. The two talked with visitors, posed for pictures, signed autographs and displayed a commemorative FIS ski racing bib, celebrating the international association’s 50 years of ski racing and Lake Placid’s history in the sport. The Meet an Olympian program concludes Thursday, Aug. 3, when two-time Olympic luge athlete Chris Mazdzer joins Olympic luge medalists Gordy Sheer and Mark Grimmette, from 3-5 p.m. Mazdzer his eying his third Olympics after finishing 13th in both 2010 and 2014. Sheer, now USA Luge’s marketing director, is a 1998 Olympic silver medalist in doubles luge, while Grimmette, USA Luge’s director of sport programs, is a two-time Olympic medalist in doubles luge. He won bronze in 1998 and silver in 2002. The Meet an Olympian program is a great way for people to meet several of the Lake Placid region’s 2018 Olympic Winter Games hopefuls. During the program, athletes discuss their sport, sign autographs and pose for pictures. The Lake Placid Olympic Museum is located at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. All scheduled athletes are subject to change and additional past and future Olympians may join the program. Admission for the Meet an Olympian program is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors 65+ and juniors 7 – 12, and ages six and under are free.
