MTA Announces Service Plans for Presidents’ Day

Most Services to Operate on Saturday Schedules

 

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today offered details about service for Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 18.
 
New York City Subways and Buses
 
On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 18, the New York City Subway will operate on a Saturday schedule with some planned service changes due to scheduled maintenance and repair work. As a reminder, some subway lines do not run on weekends: there will be no 67 express service, B and W trains will not run, and customers are reminded to use the J instead of the Z.
 
New York City buses will operate on a Saturday schedule. Staten Island local and express buses will operate on a reduced weekday schedule. For the real-time position of buses on all bus routes, use the MYmta or MTA Bus Time smartphone apps, or visit bustime.mta.info.
 
Long Island Rail Road
 
On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 18, the Long Island Rail Road will operate on a Holiday schedule, with four extra trains Ronkonkoma Branch trains. In the morning, extra trains will depart Ronkonkoma at 7:10 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. and will make all stops through Hicksville (except Pinelawn), then Jamaica, Woodside and Penn Station. In the afternoon, extra trains will depart Penn Station at 5:37 p.m. and 6:37 p.m. and will stop at Woodside, Jamaica, Hicksville, then all stops through Ronkonkoma (except Pinelawn). Off peak fares will be in effect all day.
 
Metro-North Railroad
 
On President’s Day, Monday, February 18, Metro-North Railroad will operate on a Saturday schedule.
 
The Hudson Rail Link, Newburgh-Beacon Ferry and Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will not operate.
 
The north end exits at Grand Central to 46th, 47th, and 48th Streets will be closed.
 
Off-peak fares are in effect all day.
 
West of the Hudson River, the Port Jervis Line and Pascack Valley Line will operate on a weekend schedule. On the Port Jervis Line, two extra eastbound trains will depart from Port Jervis, at 6:22 a.m. and 4:09 p.m., making all stops to Suffern, then running express to Secaucus Junction and Hoboken. One extra westbound train will depart Hoboken at 5:19 p.m., stopping at Secaucus Junction at 5:29 p.m., then running express to Suffern, then making all stops to Port Jervis.
 
Staten Island Railway
 
On Friday, February 15, the Staten Island Railway will operate on an early evening rush hour schedule to help folks get a jump start on the long weekend. Extra Staten Island Railway trains will be added earlier in the afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. from the St. George Ferry Terminal. There will be one express train and one local train awaiting every boat until 7:50 p.m. On Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 18, the Staten Island Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Email and text message service updates – Customers are urged to sign up to receive the alerts by visiting MyMTAAlerts.com. To avoid unwanted messages, a user can tailor the messages to the specific branch, and the specific times of day.
 
For those who prefer the telephone, information is available from the MTA Customer Service Center by calling 511, the New York State Travel Information Line. This line is reachable by dialing (877) 690-5114 from Connecticut or (877) 690-5116 from other states. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing can use their preferred service provider for the free 711 relay to reach the MTA at 511.
