MEDIA ADVISORYNEW YORK STATE CLIMATE ACTION COUNCIL TO HOLD BROOKLYN PUBLIC HEARING ON DRAFT SCOPING PLAN ON MAY 3 |
|
New York State’s 22-member Climate Action Council, established under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, will hold an in-person public hearing in Brooklyn on May 3, 2022, to continue its work on a Statewide Scoping Plan to guide the State toward its nation-leading climate goals. The Council released the Draft Scoping Plan on Dec. 30, 2021, and is accepting public comments on the draft through June 10, 2022. The Climate Action Council is holding a total of 11 public hearings with nine in-person hearings and two virtual hearings. In-person hearings will also be live-streamed to allow for remote viewing of the proceedings. All persons, organizations, corporations, and government agencies are encouraged to attend the public hearings and to submit oral or written comments. A high number of speakers are expected at this hearing. Please note that those individuals who have recently registered online or plan to do so at the event, may not have an opportunity to speak as the expected number of speakers exceeds the time available at the hearing venue. For those who are unable to speak or have not pre-registered to speak, but would like to provide comments, two virtual public hearings will be held on May 7 and May 11. Individuals are encouraged to register to provide their comments at either hearing. Written comments can be submitted via the online public comment form, via email to scopingplan@nyserda.ny.gov, or via U.S. Mail to Attention: Draft Scoping Plan Comments, NYSERDA, 17 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY 12203-6399. For those who wish to attend the hearing and observe it, but not speak, seats are still available. Health and Safety: The Theater at City Tech requires all attendees to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR test in the last 7 days before May 3.
