ADVISORY: 70 Acts to Compete at 29th Annual MTA Music Under New York Auditions

MTA Arts & Design’s 29th annual auditions for its Music Under New York (MTA MUSIC) program will be held this Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Seventy performers and ensembles will play before a panel of judges seeking to add new talent to the MTA MUSIC roster. MTA MUSIC hosts performances in more than 30 locations within the transit system, including major transit hubs such as Grand Central, Penn Station, Times Square-42 St and 59 St-Columbus Circle.

Credentialed media are urged to RSVP by phone to the MTA Press Office by end of business on Tuesday, May 17, due to space limitations within Vanderbilt Hall. Members of the media are required to check in to the media table at Vanderbilt Hall.

WHO: Officials from MTA Arts & Design, which administers Music Under New York to enhance the station environment and commuting experience; 70 MTA MUSIC finalists; a panel of judges representing the music industry, MTA operations and cultural institutions.

WHEN:
 Wednesday, May 18, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Credentialed media may arrive up to 30 minutes in advance to set up equipment.

WHERE: Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall, located north of the clock in the main concourse. (4567s to 42 St-Grand Central, Metro-North to Grand Central Terminal. A street entrance for Vanderbilt Hall is located at 42nd Street and Park Avenue at Pershing Square.)
