DEC AND TEAM RUBICON TO IMPROVE TRAIL SYSTEM AT BRADDOCK BAY WMA

Removal of Hazard Trees will Require Trail Closures March 21 and 28

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Division of Operations and volunteers from Team Rubicon today announced plans to remove hazardous trees at Braddock Bay Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and open narrow trail sections to improve public access and safety.

On March 21 and March 28, 2026, the Cranberry Pond Trail and the Owl Woods/Rose Marsh trail at Manitou Beach Road in the Town of Greece, Monroe County, will be closed to allow for completion of the project.

Team Rubicon is a veteran-led humanitarian organization. The international not-for-profit disaster response organization maintains a roster of 130,000-plus volunteers able to deploy throughout the United States and world. In New York State, Team Rubicon has nearly 6,500 volunteers and partners with DEC on trail and habitat improvement projects throughout the state.

Braddock Bay WMA lies in DEC’s Region 8, which manages approximately 56,118 acres of State Forest and 49,321 acres of WMAs within 11 counties. Many sites and trails are accessible to people with disabilities. Find recreation options by visiting the “Love Our NY Lands” page or DECinfo Locator. DEC’s Adventure NY initiative connects more New York State families and visitors to the great outdoors. Plan your next outdoor adventure.
