Viessmann Luge World Cup Returns to Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID, N.Y.  (November 1, 2016) --- The excitement of luge World Cup racing returns to the famed Mt. Van Hoevenberg combined bobsled/luge/skeleton track the week of November 30-December 3, 2016. The event comes as the world’s best luge athletes eye the 2108 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, just a more than a year away.

Attached to this advisory is the event’s media credential request form, to be returned by November 21, 2016 for consideration

WHAT: Viessmann Lake Placid Luge World Cup

WHEN: Racing Friday, Dec. 2, 10 a.m. with doubles and men’s singles, and Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning at 9:30 a.m., with women’s singles and team relay racing.

WHERE: Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex Track, Bobsled Lane, Route 73, Lake Placid, N.Y. 12946

Established in 1982, the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) was created by the State of New York to manage the facilities used during the 1980 Olympic Winter Games at Lake Placid. ORDA operates Whiteface, Belleayre and Gore Mountain ski areas; the Olympic Sports Complex at Mt. Van Hoevenberg; the Olympic speed skating oval, Olympic jumping complex and Olympic arena. As host to international and national championships, the Authority has brought millions of athletes, spectator and participants to the region, resulting in significant economic development.
