Statement from MTA Communications Director Tim Minton on Incident that Injured an MTA NYC Transit Track Supervisor

An NYC Transit supervisor was seriously injured while overseeing track work on the d line south of 161 St-Yankee Stadium station at 3:00 a.m. today. A full investigation began immediately to determine the facts surrounding what happened.

It appears there was an accident that resulted in the supervisor suffering burns. He was able to climb an emergency exit stairway from the tunnel to the street. Fire Department medics provided treatment and transported the injured supervisor to Harlem Hospital.

Senior NYC Transit and union officials visited the hospital early today to check on and support the employee, who is 54 years-old with 12 years of transit service, and to provide comfort to his family.
