This work is part of a state of good repair work project at seven stations on the Flushing Line that will help improve the customer experience and meet the service needs provided by the train, resulting in better and more efficient service for all New Yorkers. Beginning June 26 at approximately 6:15 a.m. and going through 2023, line express trains will only run express between 74 St-Broadway and Flushing-Main St in both directions, towards Manhattan in the morning rush hour and towards Flushing in the afternoon and evening rush hour. During this time, express trains will make all local stops between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards in both directions. While only two tracks will be in operation during both this work and other projects in 2024, all local and express trains will continue to serve 61 St-Woodside in both directions at all times. Crews will be making repairs to the track support structure, reconstructing platforms with new platform edges and ADA-compliant boarding areas, replacing stairs, upgrading station drainage and waterproofing, and performing other structural repairs. The existing street-to-mezzanine escalator at 61 St-Woodside will also be replaced. Three escalators at the 74 St-Broadway station, a vital hub for the and Q70 LaGuardia Link bus, will also be replaced. “Critical upgrades, accessibility improvements, security updates and customer experience improvements will improve the already well performing line,” said New York City Transit President Richard Davey. “When this work is completed, customers will benefit from faster, cleaner, and safer service at these enhanced stations.” “State of good repair work is essential to maintaining the health of our infrastructure and much-needed accessibility improvements will improve station experience for riders working and living along the line,” said MTA Construction and Development President Jamie Torres-Springer. “Carefully coordinating project schedules to maximize productivity during track outages allows our project team to minimize inconvenience to our riders as we deliver this vital project.” Project benefits of the line improvements include:
