DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos and Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan Host Trout Stocking and Free Fishing Event at Six Mile Waterworks

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos and Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan will stock Six Mile Waterworks in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve with 1,700 catchable size rainbow trout during a Free Fishing Event Tuesday.

Six Mile Waterworks is home to a variety of freshwater fish species including: largemouth bass, sunfish, yellow perch, chain pickerel, brown bullhead and most recently, rainbow trout.

Members of the public are invited to participate in the Free Fishing event

WHAT: Six Mile Waterworks Trout Stocking and Free Fishing Event

When stocking is complete, anyone can fish without a fishing license from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Participants must comply with current fishing regulations. DEC Fisheries staff will be available to provide casting instruction and other fishing education as needed. Fishing equipment and bait will be available for people to use. LL Bean will also be present to provide fly casting demonstrations.
