Spring Valley Woman Wins $1,000,000 Lottery Scratch-Off Prize

NYACK, N.Y. – The New York Lottery’s Yolanda Vega today presented a ceremonial prize check to Spring Valley resident Renae Bradley who won a $1,000,000 prize on the 20X the Cash Scratch-off game.  The photo opportunity took place at the Lottery’s promotional tent at the Nyack Famous Street Fair.

Bradley, 55, said she chose the ticket for a very specific reason.  “I like the multiplier feature.  When I scratched the 1X I thought, if I do win, it will only be multiplied by one.  When I realized the last number in the row matched one of my numbers and it said jackpot, I couldn’t believe it!”

Bradley bought her jackpot-winning ticket on May 10 at Manhattan Tobacco and Grocery on 9th Avenue in Manhattan.  She claimed her prize on June 13 at the Lottery’s New York City Customer Service Center.

Bradley took advantage of the new Lottery payment option and chose to receive her $1,000,000 jackpot prize in one lump sum instead of 20 annual payments totaling $1,000,000 as the ticket was designed to pay out.  She will receive her prize as a one-time payment totaling $840,000 (net $555,912).

Bradley is New York State’s 71st Lottery millionaire of 2013.  She explained that her windfall couldn’t have come at a better time.  “I just recently retired.  This is the best retirement gift ever!”

The New York Lottery contributed $25,667,967.26 in Lottery Aid To Education to school districts throughout Rockland County during fiscal year 2012-13.

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.04 billion in fiscal year 2012-2013 to help support education in New York State.  The Lottery’s contribution represents 15 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.  It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
