Boilermakers Recruit Apprentices |

Albany, NY (January 5, 2015) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Boilermakers Northeast, Local Union #5, Zone #197, will conduct a recruitment from February 3, 2015 through January 5, 2016 for 10 boilermaker (construction) apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today. Applications can be obtained from Boilermakers Northeast JATC, Local Union #5, Zone #197, 75 South Dove Street, Albany, NY, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Detailed information is available on the Boilermakers Northeast JATC website: www.neaac.net. The Committee requires that applicants: § Must be at least 18 years old. Proof of age will be required after selection and prior to indenture. § Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED). Proof will be required after selection and prior to indenture. § Must verbally attest that he/she is physically able to do the work of a boilermaker, which may include: o Working in confined spaces. o Working at various heights above the ground. o Working in nuclear facilities. o Working under other hazardous conditions. o Traveling out of town to work. § Must pass a drug/alcohol test, at the expense of the sponsor, within 48 hours of signing the Apprenticeship Agreement. § Must have reliable transportation to and from remote job sites and related instruction classes.
