DEC TO HOLD RECREATIONAL MILESTONE ANNOUNCEMENT

WHAT: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Office of General Services, Department of Transportation, and other state, local, and community partners to hold an announcement on a significant milestone for the Adirondack Rail Trail.

WHEN: Friday, Dec. 1, at 12 p.m.

WHERE: Adirondack Rail Trail at Fowler’s Crossing, Town of North Elba (Essex County)

Directions:

From Lake Placid:

Take NY-86 west towards Saranac Lake. Fowler’s Crossing is about five miles west from Lake Placid. Along NY-86 west you will pass through the small town of Ray Brook, with a Maple Field’s Gas Station on your left and the NYS Police, DEC, and APA Offices on your right. Continue for approximately 2 miles. The Dock Doctors is a small business on your left, after which the road quickly levels out and goes through a brief, straight and level stretch. Just before road starts going uphill towards Saranac Lake, you will see Fowler’s Crossing which has ample parking on both the north and south sides of the road.

From Saranac Lake:

From the Village of Saranac Lake, head east on NY-86 towards Lake Placid. Continue past the Mobil Gas Station on your left, and the Dunkin’ Donuts on your right for one half mile. Immediately after Turtle Pond on your right, you will see paved parking access on both the north and south sides of NY-86 for Fowler’s Crossing.
