With weather conditions expected to worsen overnight, express subway service began to be replaced with local service as express tracks are being used to store trains sheltered from the weather. Metro-North Railroad will be implementing an early shutdown of its services this evening.

The MTA urges customers to avoid traveling unless necessary. For those who must travel, the MTA suggests checking new.mta.info for the latest service updates before traveling, and to use extreme caution while navigating the system, especially on outdoor platforms and stairs. Customers should sign up for real-time service alerts via text or email. These alerts are also available via the MTA’s apps: MYmta, Metro-North Train Time and Long Island Rail Road Train Time.

See yesterday's announcement for more on the MTA’s ongoing storm preparations.
