NEW YORK STATE TO HOLD ITS ANNUAL TREE LIGHTING EVENT IN HARLEM ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7

Free Performances, Visit From Santa, and More

 

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner Jeanette Moy today announced the lineup for the 2023 New York State Harlem Tree Lighting at the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Building Plaza on Thursday, December 7. The evening full of free family fun and live entertainment, including musical performances, a visit from Santa, train rides, giveaways, and free hot chocolate courtesy of Starbucks, will begin at 5:30 p.m.

“New York State’s longtime, annual tradition of lighting a tree for the holidays in Harlem will carry on in 2023 with a wonderful event at the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Building Plaza,” Commissioner Moy said. “With live performances and a visit from Santa, the tree lighting on December 7 will create a great opportunity for friends, family, and neighbors in the community to come together and celebrate the holiday season. We want to thank all the generous sponsors who are making the 2023 celebration possible.”

Empire State Development President, CEO, and Commissioner Hope Knight said,The holiday season showcases the best of New York City, and the state’s annual Harlem Tree Lighting symbolizes the generosity, community spirit and joy of this time of year. We hope that neighbors and visitors alike share in the entertainment, good cheer and fun at this event.”

The public is invited to bring their family and friends to this free event, which is being organized by OGS in collaboration with promoter Greg Mays of Harlem Presents.

Entertainment Scheduled for the Tree Lighting Includes Performances by:

  • The Harlem School of the Arts Jr. and Teen Dance Ensembles.
  • The Dorothy Maynor Singers
  • Petula Beckles, and
  • Sharp Radway & Friends

 

The Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Building is located at 163 West 125th Street.

Sponsors of the Harlem Tree Lighting include P.C. Richard and Son, Harlem Community Development Corporation, MEOC, Starbucks, Touro College of Medicine, New York State of Health, Harlem Presents, WBLS, and The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce.
