NYS OFFICE OF GENERAL SERVICES COMMISSIONER MOY ANNOUNCES THE RELAUNCHING OF ONLINE AUCTIONS FOR STATE GOVERNMENT SURPLUS

GovDeals to Function as State’s New Web-Based Auction Platform

Online Auctions to Begin on Monday, February 13

Interested Buyers Can Register Here to Begin Bidding

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner Jeanette Moy today announced the relaunch of the State’s popular online surplus property auctions on a new platform operated by GovDeals.

“We are excited to announce that New York State has contracted with GovDeals’ online marketplace and that OGS will once again be able to provide the public with a convenient and easy way to bid on and buy a wide variety of State surplus items,”  Commissioner Moy said. “From the usual office furniture, computer equipment, and tools to the less typical collectible sneakers, sports memorabilia, and lost-and-found jewelry, online auctions have proven to be an effective and popular way for OGS to sell New York State government’s surplus property.”

The online auctioning of State surplus items will be held at the new State of New York Auction Site on GovDeals beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 13. Visitors to the new OGS online auction marketplace are required to preregister here before they can start bidding on surplus items. Registration is free.

Inventory on the site will change daily and feature a wide range of State surplus items, including office supplies and furniture, lockers, storage cabinets, electronics, tools, power equipment, and plumbing and electrical supplies.

Most items will be listed on the auction site for seven days, and GovDeals will accept payment from successful bidders by credit card, debit card, and PayPal. State surplus property is sold from locations throughout the State, and pickup and removal are the buyer’s responsibility.

Auction terms and conditions, including terms for inspections, payment, and removal, are found on the GovDeals website. For additional information on New York State’s government surplus programs, including surplus property, vehicle, and real estate auctions, visit ogs.ny.gov/nysstore.
