FORT JOHNSON, N.Y. – Julie Hemstreet, 64, of Fonda made a routine trip to Stewart’s to fill up her gas tank and walked out with a $1,000,000 Lottery ticket.  The lucky scratch-off player chose the Cash Blowout ticket over all of the others making her Montgomery County’s newest Lottery millionaire.

“I went in to pay for my gas and started looking at all of the tickets at the counter,” said the lucky millionaire.  “That one just happened to catch my eye so that’s the one I chose.”

Hemstreet purchased her Cash Blowout ticket at the Stewart’s Shops on East Main Street in Fort Johnson on September 13.  She claimed her prize the same day at the Lottery’s Schenectady Customer Service Center.

“I play scratch-off tickets because it’s exciting,” explained Hemstreet.  “It took a little while to figure out what ‘jackpot’ meant, but when I did I was in shock!”

Hemstreet chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum of $830,000 (net $549,294). “I plan to have fun with it,” she said of her Lottery win.  Hemstreet’s plans include of a few stops right here in New York State.  “Maybe take a trip to the St. Lawrence Seaway area and maybe a trip or two to the Saratoga Casino.”
