Student and State Arbor Day Poster Contest Winners Announced
New Yorkers Encouraged to Recognize Numerous Contributions Provided by Trees
As part of New York State’s weeklong celebration of Earth Day, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will join state and local officials and community groups in an Arbor Day celebration at Capitol Park in Albany. The event will include a ceremonial London plane tree planting.
Who: DEC Chief of Staff, Sean Mahar will be joined by state and local elected officials and industry partners including:
- State Office of General Services Business Services Center Director, Roslyn Watrobski
- City of Albany Mayor, Kathy Sheehan
- Albany County Executive, Daniel McCoy
- Empire State Forest Products Association
- New York State Arborists Association
When: Friday, April 26, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. (NOON)
Where: East Capitol Park, downtown Albany (lower side of State Capitol building. Event will be on the State Street side)
Photo Op: In addition to free copies of the 2019 Arbor Day artwork posters, 100 conifer tree seedlings from the state tree nursery will be given away to the public. Poster signing by the winning artist will be offered following the formal press event.
