OGS TO HOLD PUBLIC AUCTION FOR TWO-STORY RESIDENCE IN SYRACUSE’S UNIVERSITY NEIGHBORHOOD ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27

Two-Story, 2,100-Square-Foot Structure Located on 0.24-Acre Lot

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner Jeanette Moy today announced a public auction for state-owned property located at 210 Miles Avenue in Syracuse will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 27. The auction will take place at the DeWitt Town Hall, 5400 Butternut Drive, in East Syracuse, with registration beginning at 10 a.m.

Description of 210 Miles Avenue:

This six-bedroom, 2,100-square-foot, two-story structure is situated on a 0.24-acre parcel in Syracuse’s “University Neighborhood” and is located within the Westcott Historic District and within a zoning district designated RA (Special Neighborhood District). The structure’s exterior will be subject to a NYS Office of Parks, Recreational, and Historic Preservation deed covenant.

The structure’s main floor features a living room, kitchen, dining room, three bedrooms, and a full bathroom. There are three additional bedrooms and a full bathroom on the second floor. The partly finished basement includes a family room, laundry area, and a half bath. There is a paved driveway, an attached two-car garage, an enclosed porch, mature landscaping, and a fenced-in back yard.

Property inspections will be conducted by appointment only, with appointments available:

  • Tuesday, September 20, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, September 21, from 9 a.m. to noon
  • Wednesday, September 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 29, from 9 a.m. to noon
  • Wednesday, October 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 13, from 9 a.m. to noon

Minimum bid:

$160,000 ($16,000 deposit required to bid)

Terms of Sale:

The property is being sold “as-is.” Prospective bidders are encouraged to obtain professional advice prior to a public sale to ensure compliance with building codes and any planned use of the property. They are also encouraged to contact a financial institution before the auction to obtain pre-contract credit clearance and borrowing guidelines.

Bidders are required to submit an initial deposit in the form of a certified check or bank draft. Checks should be made payable to the Commissioner of General Services. An additional deposit to bring the total deposit to 10 percent of the bid price will be due within 10 business days after acceptance of the bid.

The State of New York will pay a 3 percent broker’s commission to a qualified real estate broker who represents the successful bidder at the time of the closing.

Both bidder pre-registration information and broker and bidder affidavits must be submitted to OGS by 4 p.m. on Monday, October 24.
