ECAC Hockey Closes out Regular Season Play this Weekend

Tickets on Sale Now for 2015 ECAC Hockey Championship Tournament, March 20-21 in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Quinnipiac and St. Lawrence head into the ECAC Hockey’s post season tournament as the number one and two seeds, respectively, but that’s about all that’s been decided heading into the final weekend of regular season play.

The 19th ranked Saints (18-11-3, 14-5-1) secured a first-round bye in the tournament with wins over 16th ranked and fourth seeded Harvard, Friday, 5-1, and sixth seeded Dartmouth, 6-3, on Sunday.

This weekend, St. Lawrence will travel to 10th seeded Union (14-16-2, 6-13-1) and ninth seeded RPI (9-23-2, 7-12-1) to close out regular season play. Union, the reigning national champions, and RPI are looking being on the road for the tournament’s first round.

Number-12 and third seeded Yale (16-7-4, 11-6-3), Harvard (14-10-3, 10-7-3), fourth seeded Colgate (18-11-3, 10-7-3), Dartmouth (13-10-4, 10-8-2) and seventh seeded Cornell (11-11-5, 9-8-3) have each clinched at least home games in the tournament’s opening round, but where they finish overall is still in question. The Bulldogs, Crimson and Red Raiders could finish out regular season play anywhere between third and seventh. The Big Green and Big Red could also finish third, but they could also wrap up the season in eighth place as well.

Clarkson (11-17-4, 8-10-2), the conference’s number eight seed, could join that group with a win or tie against the Engineers, or a win against the Dutchmen on Saturday. The Golden Knights could also head into post season play as the tournament’s ninth seed.
