DEC TO HOST FIRST-EVER WOMEN’S FISHING EXPO

What: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) will host the first-ever Women’s Fishing Expo. The Women’s Fishing Expo will provide hands-on instruction and experiential learning in a fun and supportive environment. This event will be run primarily by female anglers, deckhands, and fisheries scientists, and women-owned businesses and fishing clubs are also encouraged to attend. Although the primary focus will be on women and families, all interested anglers are encouraged to attend. The event is in conjunction with National Hunting and Fishing Day, which is held on the fourth Saturday of September each year.

Where: Belmont Lake State Park

When: Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Tentative Schedule:

10 a.m. - Casting & Fillet Demonstrations

11 a.m. – Fishing Starts!
Additional demonstrations will be offered throughout the day as needed.

Who: New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation (OPRHP)

Details: An all-encompassing fishing event geared towards women and families, although all are welcome to attend.

Cost: $8 parking fee; free with Empire Pass
