Ithaca NY (February 21, 2014) - The Finishing Trades Institute of Western and Central New York (Ithaca) will conduct a continuous recruitment from March 3, 2014 through February 27, 2015 for four painter, decorator and paperhanger apprentices and two glazier apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today. Applications will be available at the following times and locations, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period: Workforce Development, 318 Madison Ave., Elmira, NY. Applications may be obtained Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Applications will be accepted on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 622 W. State Street, Suite 2, Ithaca, NY. Applications can only be obtained and handed in on the 1st Thursday of each month from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. during the open recruitment. NYS DOL, 171 Front Street, Binghamton, NY. Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities. |
