New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos is proud to present the latest episode of “On the Front Lines,” the agency’s video series profiling staff and their work to conserve the environment, protect New York’s natural resources, and serve the public.

“We are proud of DEC’s On the Front Lines series, which gives the public a behind-the-scenes look at the great work our dedicated employees do every day across the state to preserve and protect the environment for generations to come,” Commissioner Seggos said. “It’s an opportunity for New Yorkers to learn more about the issues we tackle in their communities so that we can all reap the benefits of a healthy environment.  A special thanks to Environmental Educator Chris Bowser for his work to protect and revitalize the Hudson River.”

A graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, Bowser went on to receive his Masters of Environmental Science and Policy at Clark University in his home state of Massachusetts. Now a Hudson Valley resident, he works as the Education Coordinator for DEC’s Hudson River Estuary Program and National Estuarine Research Reserve through Cornell’s Water Resource Institute. As an educator, Bowser often gives students of all ages their first encounter with the estuary and teaches them about the importance of restoring and protecting it for both public enjoyment and to provide healthy habitats for wildlife.

DEC’s Hudson River Estuary Program works to ensure clean water, support more resilient communities, and safeguard vital estuary ecosystems and recreational opportunities.
