Rochester, NY (February 26, 2014) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Laborers Local Union #435 will conduct a recruitment from March 6, 2014 through February 5, 2015 for 10 skilled construction craft laborer apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today. Applications can be completed, in person only, at Rochester Laborers Local Union #435, 20-22 Fourth St., Rochester, NY, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. In July and January, applications may be completed on the second Thursday of the month due to holidays. No applications are to leave the premises. For further information, applicants should contact their nearest New York State Department of Labor office or Local Union #435 at (585) 546-8460. Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
