Insulators and Asbestos Workers Recruit Apprentices

Albany, NY (March 22, 2022) – The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) for Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers, Local Union #40, will conduct a recruitment from May 9, 2022 through April 24, 2023 for five Insulation and Asbestos Worker apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

Applications can be obtained at JATC for Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers, Local Union #40, 890 Third Street, Albany, NY, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

The Committee requires that applications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma (GED or TASC).
  • Must be able to work at heights using scaffolds and ladders.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors.
  • Must sign a consent form agreeing to random drug screening, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship.
  • Must provide DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, if applicable, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
