Painters and Glaziers Recruit Apprentices

Albany, NY (September 25, 2013) - The IBPAT Painters and Glaziers Local Union #155 NJATC will conduct a recruitment from October 2, 2013 through September 3, 2014 for three glazier apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today.

Please note that the three openings listed for glazier apprentices represent the total number for all four regions: the Capital District, Hudson Valley, North Country, and Mohawk Valley regions.

Applications can be obtained at the Local Union #155 office, 890 3rd Street, Albany, NY from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on the first Wednesday of the month, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a minimum of a 10th grade education.
  • Must provide military transfer card or discharge form DD-214, if applicable.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
