These weekend service changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, the Enhanced Station Initiative in Queens and Manhattan and ongoing maintenance, repair and upgrade work throughout the MTA New York City Transit subway system.  These programs maintain and upgrade track, signal, station and other infrastructure in order to provide MTA customers with safe and reliable service.  More information on the 2015-2019 Capital Program is available here.

This weekend, work crews will be dispersed throughout the entire subway system to perform a variety of critical tasks in the areas of track replacement and maintenance, signal modernization, station enhancements, electrical upgrades and communication improvements.  All of this work is aligned with the MTA Subway Action Plan, a comprehensive plan to stabilize and modernize the subway system by attacking the key drivers of 79 percent of delay-causing major incidents and strategically targeting additional personnel and equipment to focus on critical parts of the system.

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, July 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 8,  service is suspended in both directions between Wakefield-241 St and Gun Hill Rd due to track replacement.   trains will run between Gun Hill Rd in the Bronx, and Franklin Av, and via the  line to/from Crown Hts-Utica Av in Brooklyn.  Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service and make all  line station stops between Wakefield-241 St and Gun Hill Rd in the Bronx.  Transfer between free shuttle buses and  trains at Gun Hill Rd. 

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9,  service is suspended in both directions between Franklin Av and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College due to drain cleaning as part of the Subway Action Plan.   trains will run between Gun Hill Rd in the Bronx, and Franklin Av, and via the  line to/from Crown Hts-Utica Av.  Free shuttle buses will make all  line station stops between Franklin Av and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.  Transfer between free shuttle buses and  trains at Franklin Av. 

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9,  trains will run local in both directions between Grand Central-42 St and 125 St due to track replacement. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, uptown  trains will skip 23 St, 28 St and 33 St due to station enhancements at 28 St.  Use a downtown  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Grand Central-42 St or 14 St-Union Sq. 

From 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 7 and from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, July 8,  trains will run local in both directions Grand Central-42 St and 125 St every 15 minutes due to track replacement.  As a reminder,  service ends early on Friday nights between Bowling Green and E 180 St.  As an alternative, take the  and/or .        

From 6:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8, Manhattan-bound  train will skip Buhre Av, Middletwon Rd, Westchester Sq, Zerega Av, and Castle Hill Av due to track maintenance.  Use a Pelham By Park-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Parkchester or Pelham Bay Park.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, downtown  trains run express from 125 St to 59 St-Columbus Circle due to station enhancements.  Use an uptown  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 59 St-Columbus Circle or 125 St.  As a reminder,  trains do not run overnight. 

At all times until September 2018  trains skip 163 St-Amsterdam Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby 168 St , 155 St , or 157 St  instead.  Use M3, M100 or M101 buses and transfer to the  at 168 St or 155 St with MetroCard.  Need to transfer to another bus?  Ask the M3, M100 or M101 driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which is valid on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 168 St or 155 St for a transfer to the bus.

At all times until Monday, September 3,  service will be suspended in both directions between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Av due to a flood protection project in the Rockaways that will make critical subway infrastructure more resilient in the face of future storms, and improve the overall reliability of subway service on the peninsula.  During this closure,  service will operate between Inwood-207 St and Broad Channel, and via the  to/from Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St.   shuttle trains will run between Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St and Beach 90 St, and via the  to/from Far Rockaway-Mott Av.  For Far Rockaway/Mott Av-bound service take the  via transfer at Beach 90 St.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here. 

Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 6,  service will end early due to station enhancements at 86 St and 110 St.  Take the  and/or  instead.  As a reminder,  service does not run on weekends.  

At all times until September 2018,  trains will skip Cathedral Parkway-110 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs.  There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service during this closure, walk to the nearby  stations at 116 St and 103 St, along Fredrick Douglas Blvd/Central Park West.  Or take the  at 110 St, along Broadway.  Use the M10 bus along Fredrick Douglas Blvd and transfer to the  ( overnight) at 116 St or 103 St with MetroCard.  If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer, which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 116 St or 103 St for a transfer to the bus.

At all times until late October 2018,  trains will skip 72 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  See the  entry above for project details.  For alternate service during this closure, use nearby stations at 81 St-Museum of Natural History and 59 St-Columbus Circle.  Or take the  at 72 St, along Broadway.  Use an M10 bus along Frederick Douglass Blvd and transfer to the  ( overnight) at 81 St or 59 St with MetroCard.  If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 81 St or 59 St for a transfer to the bus.

At all times until late October 2018,  trains will skip 86 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  See the  entry above for project details.  For alternate service during this closure, use nearby  stations at 81 St-Museum of Natural History and 96 St.  Or take the  at 86 St, along Broadway.  Use an M10 bus along Frederick Douglass Blvd and transfer to the  ( overnight) at 81 St or 96 St with MetroCard.  If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 81 St or 96 St for a transfer to the bus.

From 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9,  service is rerouted in both directions via the  express between 59 St-Columbus Circle and Jay St-MetroTech, and via the  between Jay St-MetroTech and Coney Island-Stillwell Av due to signal improvements.  As an alternative, use  stations on 8 Av or  stations on Broadway to complete your trip.   trains will make all  line station stops between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.  Free shuttle buses will operate between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Grand St.  Transfer at Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority , Jay St-MetroTech R, or 4 Av-9 St .

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Norwood-205 St bound  trains will run express from 145 St to Fordham Rd due to track maintenance.  As an alternative, use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Fordham Rd, Tremont Av, or 145 St. 

From 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Norwood-205 St bound  trains will skip 170 St, 174-175 Sts, and 182-183 Sts due to track maintenance.  As an alternative, use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Fordham Rd, Tremont Av, or 167 St.    

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Manhattan-bound  trains will skip Sutphin Blvd , Briarwood, and 75 Av due to track maintenance.  As an alternative, use a Jamaica Center-bound  or Jamaica-bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 71 Av, Union Tpke, or Jamaica Van Wyck , or Parsons Blvd . 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Manhattan-bound  trains run express from 71 Av to Queens Plaza due to track replacement.  As an alternative, use a Jamaica Center-bound  local or 71 Av-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Queens Plaza, Roosevelt Av or 71 Av.  As a reminder,  trains do not run overnight in Queens. 

At all times until mid 2018, Manhattan-bound  trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I due to station renewal work on the Culver Line .  When finished, more than 27,000 daily customers will benefit from repaired staircases, fare control areas, walls, floors, platform girders, new platform windscreens, rubbing boards, tactile warning strips, improved lighting and artwork. 

• For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  train to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  train to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .

From 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9,  service is rerouted in both directions via the  express between Lexington Av/63 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, and via the  between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Coney Island-Stillwell Av due to signal improvements.  As an alternative, use  stations on 8 Av or  stations on Broadway to complete your trip.   trains will make all  line station stops between Jay St-MetroTech and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.  Transfer at Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority , Canal St , or Jay St-MetroTech .  Free shuttle buses will run along two routes: between W 4 St-Wash Sq and East Broadway, and between Jay St-MetroTech and York St.   

From 10:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Manhattan-bound  trains are rerouted via the  line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to 36 St due to track maintenance.  As a reminder,  trains will make all  line station stops between Jay St-MetroTech and Coney Island-Stillwell Av this weekend. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9,  service will be suspended in both directions between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs due to track maintenance.   trains will run between Church Av and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.  Free shuttle buses will make all  line station stops between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs.  Transfer between  trains and free shuttle buses at Bedford-Nostrand Avs. 

At all times until Summer 2018, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound  trains skip 121 St due to station rehabilitation work.  For service to this station, take the  to Sutphin Blvd and transfer to a Broad St-bound .  As a reminder, Broad St-bound  trains skip 121 St from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on weekdays; take the  instead.  For service from this station, take the  to 111 St and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound . 

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, July 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 8,  service will be suspended in both directions between Crescent St and Jamaica Center due to station rehabilitation work at 104 St and 121 St.   trains will run between Broad St in Lower Manhattan and Crescent St in Brooklyn.  Free shuttle buses will make all  line station stops between Crescent St and 121 St, and connect with the  at Jamaica-Van Wyck.  Transfer between trains and free shuttle buses at Jamaica-Van Wyck  and/or Crescent St . 

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, July 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 8, Crescent St-bound  and Metropolitan Av-bound  trains will skip Hewes St, Lorimer St, and Flushing Av due to track replacement.  As an alternative, use a Manhattan-bound  or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Myrtle Av, Marcy Av, or Delancey-Essex Sts.  As a reminder,  service runs between Myrtle Av and Metropolitan Av late nights.

Beginning 8:15 p.m. Friday, July 6,  service will end early between 71 Av and Delancey-Essex Sts due to signal improvements. 

At all times until fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St due to station rehabilitation work at nine stations on the Sea Beach Line.  When finished, this will yield a better travel experience for our customers including the installation of elevators at 8 Av and New Utrecht Av stations, providing our mobility impaired customers with better accessibility, upgraded communication systems, installation of Help Point intercoms, new stairways and handrails, reconstructed platforms and overpasses, repairs to canopies and columns, and artwork.

• For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  to Bay Pkwy or 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the .  Transfer between  and  trains at 36 St or Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

At all times until February 2019,  trains will skip Broadway and 39 Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby open Astoria line stations at 30 Av, 36 Av, or Queensboro Plaza via the Q102 bus.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here. 

From 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9,  trains will be rerouted via the  line in both directions between DeKalb Av in Brooklyn, and Canal St in Lower Manhattan due to signal improvements. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains will skip 30 Av and 36 Av due to station enhancements at Broadway and 39 Av.  As an alternative, use an Astoria-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Queensboro Plaza or Astoria Blvd.  As a reminder,  trains will not stop at Broadway or 39 Av.    

From 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains will run express from Prospect Park to Kings Hwy due to structural improvements.  As an alternative, use a Manhattan-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Kings Hwy, Newkirk Plaza, Church Av, or Prospect Park. 

Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 6,  service will end early due to station enhancements at Broadway and 39 Av.  As an alternative, take the  or .  As a reminder,  trains do not run on weekends.
