One Month Remains in ECAC Hockey Regular Season Play

Tickets on Sale Now for 2015 ECAC Hockey Championship Tournament, March 20-21 in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- There’s only one month remaining in the ECAC Hockey regular season and two teams find themselves heading in opposite directions. Harvard, once in the hunt for the conference’s regular season crown, struggled in January, while St. Lawrence University surged.

The sixth ranked Crimson (12-6-2, 8-4-2) started off 2015 with a 10-1-2 marked and ranked second nationally. They are more than happy to turn the calendar’s page to February after closing out last month with a 2-4 record. The slump has left them in third place in ECAC play, with 18 points, trailing second place St. Lawrence and top seeded and 16th ranked Quinnipiac (16-8-2, 11-2-1).

Harvard opens February with two tough games. On Friday, they’ll travel to face red hot and third ranked Boston University, who went 5-1-2 in January, in a non-league game, before hosting 15th ranked Yale, Saturday.

The Bulldogs (12-6-3, 7-5-2) sit fourth in ECAC Hockey play and have topped Harvard twice already this season, including a 4-1 win at Madison Square Garden, Jan. 10.

The Saints (14-10-2, 10-4-0) have won five in a row and enter February riding their longest winning streak since 2012. The Saints’ defense has given up just two goals per game during the streak, while the offense has netted 3.6 goals per game.

On Friday and Saturday, St. Lawrence travels to the Capital District to face RPI and Union. The eighth-seeded Engineers are just 9-18-1 overall, and .500 in league play with a 7-7 mark, while the Dutchmen sit in 10th place in the conference. The reigning national champions (13-11-2, 5-8-1) skated to a 3-3 conference mark in January.
