Union and Quinnipiac Flip Flop in this Week’s USCHO.Com Poll

ALBANY, N.Y. --- Last week, ECAC Hockey’s Union College was ranked third in the USCHO.Com division I men’s ice hockey poll, while league rival Quinnipiac came in at number-four. This week, the Bobcats (18-4-5, 8-2-3) move to number-three, while the Dutchman (16-5-3, 10-2-0) slip to number-four.

While Quinnipiac enjoyed a bye week, Union played a pair of league games, posting a 1-1 record. The Dutchmen opened the weekend, Friday, Jan. 24, skating to a 4-3 win over Harvard, before falling to RPI, Saturday, 2-1.  The two points they earned in their win over Harvard moved Union into first place in the league standings, with 20 points, one ahead of Quinnipiac.

In all, six ECAC Hockey teams made their way into the USCHO.Com’s top-25 poll.  Cornell (10-4-5, 6-3-4), spends this week at number 11, moving up one place from last week. Yale (10-5-4, 5-4-3), the reigning NCAA national champions, dropped three places to number-13, while Clarkson (15-9-2, 8-4-0), fell two spots to 15th.

Colgate also comes in at 18.  The Red Raiders (13-9-3, 8-2-3), who share second place in the ECAC Hockey standings with Quinnipiac, were unranked the previous week.
