LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- The World Cup Biathlon series begins this week in Oestersund, Sweden. Tim Burke, of Lake Placid, N.Y., is not only leaving his mark on the sport of biathlon, but also the environment. In December 2009, the three-time Olympian became the first-ever American to wear biathlon’s yellow bib, marking him as the top ranked biathlete in the world. Over the past 11-plus years, he has been one of the sport’s top athletes, notching several World Cup podium finishes and a 2013 world championship silver medal. This February, Burke hopes to become the first American to win an Olympic medal in the sport of biathlon. In this video, he talks about his love for biathlon, the environment and the Lake Placid region that drives him towards his fourth Olympic Winter Games.
