These weekend service changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, the Enhanced Station Initiative in Queens and on-going capital construction work on the MTA New York City Transit subway system.  These programs maintain and upgrade track, signal, station and other infrastructure in order to continue to provide MTA customers with safe and reliable service.  For more information on the 2015-2019 Capital Program, click here.  

This weekend, work crews will be dispersed throughout the entire subway system to perform a variety of critical tasks in the areas of track replacement and maintenance, signal modernization, station enhancements, electrical upgrades and communication improvements.  All of this work is aligned with the MTA Subway Action Plan, a comprehensive plan to stabilize and modernize the subway system by attacking the key drivers of 79 percent of delay-causing major incidents, strategically targeting additional personnel and equipment to focus on critical parts of the system.    

“The Weekender” is your digital guide to understanding planned service changes in effect for system maintenance and construction, and makes it easy for subway riders to visualize exactly how weekend work will affect subway service.  Customers may visit www.mta.info and check out “The Weekender,” accessible by clicking the  “Weekender” tab located within the Service Status Menu.

The “Weekender for Mobile App” includes MTA Subway Time data and is available for iPhone in the Apple app store, and in the Google Play store for Android devices.  This free-to-download app shares the same features as the desktop version, including a subway diagram that displays the service to be provided each weekend, and all service changes.  Users can pinch or expand the map to multiple zoom levels, and tap to choose one of three ways to view service diversions: Service by Line, Service by Borough and Service by Station.

TripPlanner+ provides travel information that takes weekend service diversions into account.  In addition, customers can receive customized subway diversion e-mails delivered to their inbox by signing up for the E-mail Subscription Program by clicking here.   Customers who rely on these lines should allow for additional travel time.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, downtown  trains skip 137 St, 125 St, 116 St, 110 St and 103 St due to drain cleaning as part of Subway Action Plan work.  Use an uptown  train to complete your trip.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18,  service will be suspended in Brooklyn due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.  This project is part of MTA’s ongoing efforts to fix assets damaged during Sandy, and include repairs and rehabilitation of tracks, signals, pump rooms, fire protection system, and power and communication cables. 

• In Brooklyn,  service will be extended to New Lots Av to replace the .  service will be extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College to replace the .   and  trains will run local in Brooklyn.  Service will not be available at the Clark St and Hoyt St stations.  As an alternative, use the nearby Borough Hall and Nevins St .  Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr for  trains for service to Manhattan.
• In Manhattan, downtown  trains will be rerouted.  trains will run between the Bronx and South Ferry, making local stops between 34 St-Penn Station and South Ferry.   service will run between Harlem-148 St and 14 St.  Service will not be available at the Park Place and Wall St stations.  Use the nearby Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Wall St  stations instead.
• A free out-of-system transfer is available between the South Ferry  and Bowling Green .  Transfer between South Ferry  and  at South Ferry-Whitehall St.  Transfer at Times Sq-42 St for  trains to Brooklyn. 

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 to 10:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, Woodlawn-bound  trains skip 161 St, 167 St, 170 St, Mt Eden Av and 176 St due to track replacement.  Use a Manhattan-bound  train to complete your trip. 

From 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, and from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, service operates every 16 minutes between 125 St and Woodlawn due to track replacement.  The last stop for some trains headed toward Woodlawn is 125 St.   

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18,  service is extended to New Lots Av and  service is extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.   trains will run local in Brooklyn to replace the .  A free out-of-system transfer is available between the South Ferry  and Bowling Green  stations.

From 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, uptown  trains run local from Grand Central-42 St to 125 St due to drain cleaning as part of Subway Action Plan work.   

From 11:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18,  trains are suspended in both directions between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway due to track replacement as part of Subway Action Plan work.   service will operate between 168 St and Broad Channel, and via the S to/from Rockaway Park.  Shuttle buses will make all stops between Beach 90 St and Far Rockaway.  Transfer between trains and buses at Beach 90 St. 

From 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15,  trains will stop at 155 St and 163 St in both directions due to communications improvements. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, trains are suspended in both directions between Inwood-207 St and 168 St due to communications improvements.   trains make nearby stops between 168 St and 207 St.  Free shuttle buses will run along two routes:

• On Broadway, between 168 St and 207 St.
• On Fort Washington Av, between 168 St and 190 St.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, uptown  trains are rerouted via the  line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 145 St due to drain cleaning as part of Subway Action Plan work.  For service between W 4 St-Wash Sq and 47-50 Sts, use the  via transfer at W 4 St-Wash Sq.  For 7 Av, take the  instead via transfer at 42 St/Port Authority. 

From 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, downtown  trains stop at 23 St and 14 St due to drain cleaning as part of Subway Action Plan work.

From 9:45 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on both Saturday, Dec. 16, and Sunday, Dec. 17,  trains are suspended in both directions between 145 St and 168 St due to communications improvements.  Take the  train instead. 

From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Dec. 17, uptown  trains run express from Canal St to 145 St due to drain cleaning as part of Subway Action Plan work.  Use a Norwood-205 St bound  train to complete your trip.  

From 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18,  trains run local in both directions between DeKalb Av and 36 St in Brooklyn due to drain cleaning as part of Subway Action Plan work.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, Norwood-205 St bound  trains skip 182-183 Sts due to track maintenance.  Use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  train to complete your trip. 

At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound  trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I due to station renewal work on the Culver Line .  When finished, more than 27,000 daily customers will benefit from repaired staircases, fare control areas, walls, floors, platform girders, new platform windscreens, rubbing boards, tactile warning strips, improved lighting and artwork. 

• For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  train to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  train to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .

From 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, and from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, the last stop for some Brooklyn-bound  trains will be 2 Av due to drain cleaning as part of Subway Action Plan work.  To continue your trip, transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  train at 2 Av. 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 179 St-bound  trains and Bedford-Nostrand Avs bound  trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, 15 St-Prospect Park and 4 Av-9 St due to track maintenance.  Use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  or Church Av-bound  train to complete your trip. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18,  trains are suspended in both directions between Bedford Nostrand-Avs and Court Sq due to signal maintenance as part of the work for the Subway action plan.  Free shuttle buses will operate between Bedford Nostrand-Avs and Court Sq making all station stops. 

At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound  trains skip 121 St and 104 St due to station rehabilitation work.

• For service to these stations, use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead. Or, take the Manhattan-bound  to 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound .
• For service from these stations, use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead. Or, take the Q56 bus and transfer to/from  service at nearby 111 St.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18,  trains are suspended in both directions between Essex St and Broad St due to drain cleaning as part of Subway Action Plan work. For service between Delancey-Essex St and Broad St, use the  to nearby stations via transfer at Bleecker St .  For service to/from Manhattan, Use the  or  via transfer at Broadway Junction. 

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18,  trains are suspended in both directions between Crescent St and Jamaica Center due to station improvements.  Free shuttle buses make all  line station stops between Crescent St and 121 St, and connect with the  at Jamaica-Van Wyck.

From 6:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 and from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17,  trains are suspended in both directions between Essex St and Broadway Junction due to track maintenance.  Take the J train instead. 

At all times until April 2018,  service is suspended in both directions between Myrtle Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs due to the Myrtle Viaduct Reconstruction project.   service will operate in two sections:

• Between Delancey-Essex St and Myrtle Av, and via the  to/from Broadway Junction, days/evenings.
• Between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
• Free shuttle buses operate between Myrtle Av (Broadway) and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.

At all times until Fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St due to station rehabilitation work at nine stations on the Sea Beach Line.  When finished, this will yield a better travel experience for our customers including the installation of elevators at 8 Av and New Utrecht Av stations, providing our mobility impaired customers with better accessibility, upgraded communication systems, installation of Help Point intercoms, new stairways and handrails, reconstructed platforms and overpasses, repairs to canopies and columns, and artwork.

• For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  to Bay Pkwy or 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the  Transfer between  and  trains at 36 St or Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

At all times until Spring 2018,  trains skip 30 Av and 36 Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this extensive overhaul is completed at the 30 Av and 36 Av stations, customers will benefit from improved features, such as enhanced signage for easier navigation, including digital, real-time train arrival information at subway entrances, glass and wire mesh platform windscreens, new security cameras and railings, artwork, new glass barriers and LED lighting throughout for increased light and transparency and a new staircase for exiting from the 30 Av Astoria-bound platform to the street-level intersection of 30th Avenue and Newtown Avenue.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby open Astoria line stations for  service at Broadway, Astoria Blvd, and 39 Av, or go to the Steinway St or 36 St  stations.  Or, use the following convenient bus route(s):

• Q102 to open Astoria line stations, Queensboro Plaza  or Queens Plaza
• Q18 to Northern Blvd .
• Q66 to Steinway St , Northern Blvd , 21 St-Queensbridge , Queensboro Plaza , and Queens Plaza .
• Q69 and Q100 Ltd to 21 St-Queensbridge , Queens Plaza , Queensboro Plaza .

From 10:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18,  trains run local in both directions between DeKalb Av and 59 St in Brooklyn, due to drain cleaning as part of Subway Action Plan work.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains skip Broadway and 39 Av due to station enhancements.  Use an Astoria-bound  train to complete your trip. 

From 11:45 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to Monday, Dec. 18,  trains are rerouted via the  line in both directions between Canal St and DeKalb Av due to signal maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work.  Use the  at nearby stations.  Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or 14 St-Union Sq. 

From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Dec. 17,  trains are rerouted via the  line in both directions between Canal St and DeKalb Av due to signal maintenance as part of Subway Action Plan work.  Use the  at nearby stations.  Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or 14 St-Union Sq. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 to 6:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, and from 11:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 to Monday, Dec. 18,  trains are suspended in both directions between Whitehall St and 59 St in Brooklyn due to track maintenance.  Take the  instead.
