GOVERNOR CUOMO PARTNERS WITH NYS DOL AND U.S. DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS TO OFFER CENTRAL NEW YORK CAREER EXPO

Job Seekers Encouraged to Pre-Register Here for More Than 5,000

New York State Department of Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon today announced that more than 215 businesses will offer more than 5,000 job opportunities at the Central New York CareerExpo. The event will be held on Tuesday, June 5 at the SRC Arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs - Syracuse VA Medical Center in partnership with Onondaga Community College and the New York State Department of Labor.

“The New York State Department of Labor is proud to assist in making the connection between job seekers and businesses,” said State Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon. “It’s a real honor to partner with the VA to make sure our veterans get the careers they deserve and I encourage anyone – veteran or not – in need of a new opportunity in the Central New York region to pre-register and join us for this event.”

Fourteen businesses will be offering on-site job interviews with company representatives, including Syracuse University, Spectrum, Clean Harbor Environment and All Metro Health Care. In addition, a resource room will be available for job seekers to research employment opportunities and complete online applications. Labor Department staff will also be available to review job seeker resumes. The event is free of charge for job seekers and businesses alike.

Additionally, the VA will have staff on hand to assist veterans interested in enrolling in VA healthcare.

Registration Encouraged
Those who wish to attend are asked to register online at  https://labor.ny.gov/secure/job-fair/   Turnout is expected to be high so individuals are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible.

“Working with our community partners at the New York State Department of Labor and Onondaga Community College, we believe we can help job many Veteran job seekers, as well as members of the general public, find career and employment opportunities by directly connecting hiring businesses with the talented workers they need to drive their operations,” said Mark Antinelli, Acting Associate Director, Syracuse VA Medical Center.

Job seekers are reminded to dress professionally and bring several copies of their resumes. 

Free parking is available in the lots adjacent to the SRC Arena.
