State DEC, Ag & Markets and Parks to Kickoff New York’s Invasive Species Awareness Week

What:  New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos will be joined by State Department of Agriculture and Markets Commissioner Richard Ball, State Parks Deputy Commissioner of Natural Resources, Tom Alworth, industry partners and state and local elected kickoff New York State’s Invasive Species Awareness Week. 

The event will highlight work being done to combat invasive species in New York State and announce upcoming public event calendar for ISAW.  Event will include the visuals of banding and tagging of trees in the State Park.

What:  Kickoff event for Invasive Species Awareness Week

When:  Monday, July 9, Press Conference: 11:30 a.m.

Where: Peebles Island State Park, 1 Delaware Ave, Waterford, NY 12188

Press event site: Railroad Drive/Delaware Ave (GPS: 42.780659, -73.680563), see attached map noting the approximate locations (marked with Xs).  

Event attendees are directed to park vehicles at the Visitor’s Center at 1 Delaware Ave, Cohoes, NY 12047 - Note: There is a short walk from the Visitor’s Center to the press conference location where trees will be banded (approx. .2 mile, ~5-7 min walk).
