Public Statement Hearing Scheduled for Central Hudson ProposalProposal to rebuild and upgrade existing lines in the City of Kingston and the Towns of Ulster and Saugerties, Ulster County and the Town and Village of Catskill, Greene County |

ALBANY — The New York State Public Service Commission (Commission) today announced it was seeking comment on a request by Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation (Central Hudson) to rebuild and upgrade approximately 23.6 miles of existing 69 kilovolt (kV) transmission lines located the City of Kingston and Towns of Ulster and Saugerties in Ulster County and the Town and Village of Catskill in Greene County.
Central Hudson requests Commission authorization to reconstruct existing 69 kV transmission lines designated “H” and “SB.” The applicant states that the rebuild will generally occur within an existing 23.6-mile-long right-of-way, with approximately 1.2 miles of the H line relocated to avoid the State designated Great Vly Wildlife Management Area. The utility will upgrade the lines to 115 kV requirements by removing and replacing most of the structures, insulators, electrical conductors, and associated components of the two lines. The new lines will use 253 total structures, three fewer than the existing lines occupy.

The hearing will be preceded by a brief presentation by the Department of Public Service Staff which will begin at 6:00 p.m. The presentation will describe the nature of the filings in these cases and the process by which they will be brought to the Commission for decision.
The purpose of the public statement hearing is to allow interested members of the public to provide their views personally before an Administrative Law Judge assigned by the Commission to the case. A verbatim transcript of the hearing will be made for inclusion in the record of the proceeding. It is not necessary to be present at the start of the hearing or to make an appointment in advance in order to speak. Persons interested in speaking will be asked to complete a card requesting time to speak when they arrive at the hearing, and will be called in the order in which the cards are received. Speakers are not required to provide written copies of their comments.
The public statement hearing will be kept open until everyone wishing to speak has been heard or other reasonable arrangements have been made to include their comments in the record.
