Green Innovation Grants Support Projects That Utilize Green Stormwater Infrastructure Design and Technologies
Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering Planning Grants Help Start the Critical Planning Process for Clean Water Infrastructure Investment
Applications are Due by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11
New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation President and CEO Maureen A. Coleman is pleased to announce the application period is open for the Green Innovation Grant and Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering Planning Grant programs. Up to $15 million is available for the Green Innovation Grant Program, and $3 million for Engineering Planning Grants to support critical water quality and stormwater resiliency projects across the state. EFC’s grants help ensure communities can affordably undertake vital projects that safeguard public health, protect the environment, and support economic development while minimizing the financial burden for local ratepayers.
“These grants will help enable stormwater management projects in communities across our state and help those areas meet infrastructure improvement goals and make sewer and stormwater upgrades that will last a lifetime,” President & CEO Coleman said. “EFC encourages low-income and environmental justice communities to apply for these funds. Funding through these programs has historically been awarded to disadvantaged communities and EFC is committed to ensuring that continues.”
The Green Innovation Grant Program supports projects across the state that utilize green stormwater infrastructure design and create cutting-edge green technologies. Competitive grants of up to $3 million are available to help fund projects that improve water quality and utilize green practices such as green stormwater infrastructure, energy efficiency, water efficiency, and environmental innovation to improve resiliency for protection of existing systems.
Wastewater Infrastructure Engineering Planning Grants help eligible communities afford and start the critical planning process, so they can be better prepared to seek grants and financing through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to complete vital clean water infrastructure projects. The goal of the program is to encourage communities to advance water quality projects to the design stage, and ultimately construction, by funding the development of an acceptable engineering report. Grants of up to $100,000 are available to eligible municipalities.
Go to EFC’s website at https://efc.ny.gov to learn more and apply for these grants. Grant applications and required supporting documentation must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11. Register now for webinars scheduled on Wednesday, Feb. 26 to learn more about this round of funding and how to apply. The Engineering Planning Grant webinar will be held at 10 a.m. The Green Innovation Grant webinar will be held at 2 p.m.
New York's Commitment to Water Quality New York State continues to increase its nation-leading investments in water infrastructure, including more than $2.2 billion in financial assistance from EFC for local water infrastructure projects in State Fiscal Year 2024 alone. With $500 million allocated for clean water infrastructure in the FY25 Executive Budget announced by Governor Hochul, New York will have invested a record $6 billion in water infrastructure since 2017. Governor Hochul’s State of the State initiatives are ensuring ongoing coordination with local governments and helping communities to leverage these investments. Governor Hochul announced $435 million in grants to 102 projects in November, featuring increased awards for wastewater projects for smaller, disadvantaged communities. The Governor also expanded EFC’s Community Assistance Teams to help small, rural and disadvantaged communities leverage this funding and address their clean water infrastructure needs. Any community needing assistance with a water infrastructure project is encouraged to contact EFC. |
