DEC Reopens Lake George Beach

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has reopened Lake George (AKA Million Dollar) Beach and Dog Beach Monday afternoon after test results showed that the beach was safe for swimming.

Test results from samples collected on Saturday came back Monday and showed decreased levels of coliform bacteria and E. coli below the Department of Health (DOH) sanitary threshold.

DEC is still investigating a variety of potential sources of the recent contamination. Sampling will be conducting on a daily basis to ensure the safety of the swimming area.
