March 16, Albany NY - The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) today announced that 60 ITS employees were recognized as Outstanding IT Managers at the annual New York State IT Leadership Academy. The Outstanding IT Manager Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exemplary leadership, customer service, and public stewardship through team-leading, implementing innovative solutions and serving their agency and constituents.
“ITS is fortunate to have many talented leaders helping to build innovative IT solutions that best serve New Yorkers,” said Margaret Miller, New York State Chief Information Officer. “As IT leaders, we must continue to develop and hone our business skills to keep pace with growing customer demands and increasing reliance on technology in an ever-changing New York State government. I am extremely proud of the hard work of all those who work in ITS including our managers, who are charged with encouraging our teams to be creative and deliver high caliber results. Congratulations to the 2017 Outstanding IT Managers!”
“Congratulations to the 2017 NYS Outstanding IT Managers! Government Technology is honored to recognize these outstanding public servants who over the last year demonstrated exceptional leadership, vison and dedication to advance New York State government through the use of technology. These awards reflect both the innovative work being done in New York and the focus of the IT community in serving its constituents,” said Maureen Torncello, National Conference Director, Government Technology.
This year’s outstanding IT managers were honored in a special awards ceremony held during the 2017 New York State IT Leadership Academy. The IT Leadership Academy, which took place on March 15 and 16 in Albany, is hosted by Government Technology, in partnership with the State of New York. The annual event provides an opportunity for New York’s senior level technology executives and those individuals striving to serve in senior IT roles, to come together to focus on strategy and leadership, learn from nationally recognized industry leaders and to be better equipped to solve today’s IT government business challenges.
2017 marked the 11th year the annual event has occurred and was attended by over 350 state and local government IT leaders. The 2017 Academy offered learning opportunities in government innovation, data readiness, customer service, cloud services and transformative change, and included keynote addresses from H. James Dallas, Author, Speaker, Consultant, Change Agent; and Chad Pregracke, President and Founder, Living Lands and Water and 2013 CNN Hero of the Year.
