OGS TO AUCTION TWO VACANT PARCELS IN OSWEGO COUNTY

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner RoAnn M. Destito today announced the scheduling of a public auction on Wednesday, February 12 for vacant property at 240 State Route 104 in the City of Oswego and a sealed-bid auction for state-owned property located on US Route 11 in Oswego County in the town of Hastings, with bids due on Tuesday, February 18.

240 State Route 104, City of Oswego:

The auction will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12 at the Oswego City Hall, 13 West Oneida Street in Oswego, with registration beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Description of Parcel:

This mostly rectangular parcel of vacant land is approximately 10,925 square feet or a quarter of an acre on the south side of State Route 104 between the entrance to the Oswego Plaza and Sherwin-Williams Paints. The parcel is located within a zoning district designated Commercial Business. It is accessed by vehicle via a long-standing 50-foot permanent easement across the neighboring property to the east. Public water, sewer, and electricity are available to the site.

The parcel is available for self-inspection.

Minimum bid:

$28,000 (An initial $2,800 deposit is required to bid).

Land on US Route 11 in Hastings

Description of Parcel:

This triangular-shaped property is approximately 1.4 acres of heavily wooded, vacant land in a rural setting with 643 feet of road frontage along US Route 11. It is located in the Central Square School District and within a zoning district designated Commercial-Residential.

The parcel is marked with a “Public Auction” sign and is available for self-inspection.

Minimum bid:

$2,500 (An initial $250 deposit is required to bid).

Bidding Information:

Bids must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18.

Bid Opening:

A public bid opening will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19 at the New York State Office of General Services, Empire State Plaza, 39th Floor, Corning Tower in Albany.

Terms for both properties:

The properties are being sold “as-is.” Prospective bidders are encouraged to obtain professional advice, prior to a public sale to ensure compliance with building codes and any planned use of the property. They are also encouraged to contact a financial institution prior to the auction in order to obtain pre-contract credit clearance and borrowing guidelines.

Interested bidders will be required to present an initial deposit in the form of a certified check or bank draft. Checks should be made payable to the Commissioner of General Services. An additional deposit to bring the total deposit to 10 percent of the bid price will be due within 10 business days after acceptance of the bid.

The State of New York will pay a 2.5 percent broker’s commission to a qualified real estate broker who represents the successful bidder at the time of the closing. Bidder and broker affidavits must be submitted to OGS Legal Services on or before February 11 for the property auction in Oswego and on or before February 18 for the sealed-bid auction for the Hastings property.
