Engineers Recruit Apprentices |

Constantia, NY (June 6, 2014) - The Upstate New York Engineers Training Fund, Local Union #545 (also doing business as Local Union #158, District #545), will conduct a recruitment from July 7, 2014 through July 18, 2014 for three operating engineer (heavy equipment operator) apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today. Please note that the three openings listed for apprentices represent the total number for five recruitment regions - the Central, Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley, North Country, and Southern Tier regions. Applications must be completed in person, on site, at the Upstate NY Engineers Training Fund, District #545 training site, 814 County Route 23, Constantia, NY from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday during the recruitment period. Applications will be available for 10 business days or until 35 applications have been submitted, whichever comes first. The Committee requires that applicants:

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
