Governor Kathy Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer, MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber, and other elected and federal officials join the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to celebrate the official opening of Grand Central Madison with full Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) service set to begin Monday, Feb. 27, increasing service levels by 41%. Grand Central Madison is the first major railroad terminal to be built in the United States in 67 years, and the first expansion of the LIRR since Penn Station opened 112 years ago. WHEN: Media arrival time at 12:50 p.m. WHERE: Press must check in by the Yayoi Kusama artwork near the 47 St escalators in Grand Central Madison’s Main Concourse by 12:50 p.m.
NOTE: Following completion of remarks, Governor Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Schumer, and Chair and CEO Janno Lieber will join other riders on a LIRR train to Jamaica Station.
