These weekend service changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, the Enhanced Station Initiative in Queens and on-going capital construction work on the MTA New York City Transit subway system.  These programs maintain and upgrade track, signal, station and other infrastructure in order to continue to provide MTA customers with safe and reliable service.  For more information on the 2015-2019 Capital Program, click here.  

This weekend, work crews will be dispersed throughout the entire subway system to perform a variety of critical tasks in the areas of track replacement and maintenance, signal modernization, station enhancements, electrical upgrades and communication improvements.  All of this work is aligned with the MTA Subway Action Plan, a comprehensive plan to stabilize and modernize the subway system by attacking the key drivers of 79 percent of delay-causing major incidents, strategically targeting additional personnel and equipment to focus on critical parts of the system.    

“The Weekender” is your digital guide to understanding planned service changes in effect for system maintenance and construction, and makes it easy for subway riders to visualize exactly how weekend work will affect subway service.  Customers may visit www.mta.info and check out “The Weekender,” accessible by clicking the  “Weekender” tab located within the Service Status Menu.

The “Weekender for Mobile App” includes MTA Subway Time data and is available for iPhone in the Apple app store, and in the Google Play store for Android devices.  This free-to-download app shares the same features as the desktop version, including a subway diagram that displays the service to be provided each weekend, and all service changes.  Users can pinch or expand the map to multiple zoom levels, and tap to choose one of three ways to view service diversions: Service by Line, Service by Borough and Service by Station.

TripPlanner+ provides travel information that takes weekend service diversions into account.  In addition, customers can receive customized subway diversion e-mails delivered to their inbox by signing up for the E-mail Subscription Program by clicking here.   Customers who rely on these lines should allow for additional travel time.

From 5:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday Feb. 3 and Sunday, Feb. 4, Van Cortlandt Park-242 St bound  trains skip 207 St, 215 St, 225 St, 231 St, and 238 St due to track maintenance. 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5,  service will be suspended in Brooklyn due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.  This project is part of MTA’s ongoing efforts to fix assets damaged during Sandy, and include repairs and rehabilitation of tracks, signals, pump rooms, fire protection system, and power and communication cables. 

• In Brooklyn,  service will be extended to New Lots Av to replace the .  service will be extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College to replace the .   and  trains will run local in Brooklyn.  Service will not be available at the Clark St and Hoyt St stations.  As an alternative, use the nearby Borough Hall and Nevins St .  Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr for  trains for service to Manhattan.
• In Manhattan, downtown  trains will be rerouted.   trains will run between the Bronx and South Ferry, making local stops between 34 St-Penn Station and South Ferry.   service will run between Harlem-148 St and 14 St.  Service will not be available at the Park Place and Wall St stations.  Use the nearby Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Wall St  stations instead.
• A free out-of-system transfer is available between the South Ferry  and Bowling Green  Transfer between South Ferry  and  at South Ferry-Whitehall St.  Transfer at Times Sq-42 St for  trains to Brooklyn. 

From 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5,  trains run local in both directions between 96 St and Times Sq-42 St due to track maintenance and drain cleaning as part of the Subway Action Plan. 

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, Woodlawn-bound  trains skip, 161 St, 167 St, 170 St, Mt Eden Av, and 176 St due to track replacement.  Use a Manhattan-bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Burnside Av or 149 St-Grand Concourse. 

From 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 and from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4,  service operates every 16 minutes between 125 St and Woodlawn due to track replacement.  The last stop for some trains headed toward Woodlawn will be 125 St.  Transfer to a Woodlawn-bound  at 125 St to continue your trip. 

From 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, downtown  trains run local from 125 St to Grand Central-42 St and uptown  trains run local from Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall to 125 St due to track replacement and drain cleaning for the Subway Action Plan.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5,  service is extended to New Lots Av and  service is extended to Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College due to Fix&Fortify Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.   trains will run local in Brooklyn to replace the .  A free out-of-system transfer is available between the South Ferry  and Bowling Green  stations.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5,  trains run express from Grand Central-42 St to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall due to track maintenance.  Use an uptown  or  train to complete your trip.  For service from Canal St, take the  instead.  Transfer to the  at Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. 

From 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5,  trains run local in both directions between Grand Central-42 St and 125 St due to track replacement. 

From 9:45 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to Monday, Feb. 5, Inwood-207 St bound  trains run express from Canal St to 168 St due to track maintenance.  Use a downtown  or  local to complete your trip.  As a reminder,  service does not operate overnight.

From 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, downtown  trains run local from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St due to drain cleaning for the Subway Action Plan.

Beginning 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2,  service will end early due to track maintenance.  Take the  and/or  instead.  As a reminder,  trains do not run on weekends.   

From 9:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Feb 2, and from 6:30 a.m. to 12 midnight Saturday, Feb. 3 and Sunday, Feb. 4, uptown  trains run express from Canal St to 168 St due to drain cleaning for the Subway Action Plan.  Use a downtown  local or  to complete your trip.  As a reminder,  trains do not run overnight. 

From 9:45 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday to Monday, Feb. 2, to Feb. 5, Norwood-205 St bound  trains run express in Brooklyn from 36 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr due to station improvements.  Use a Coney Island-bound local  or Bay Ridge-bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or 36 St.     

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, Norwood-205 St-bound  trains skip 170 St and 174-175 Sts due to track maintenance.  Use a Manhattan-bound  to complete your trip. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, uptown  trains skip Spring St and 23 St due to drain cleaning for the Subway Action Plan.  Use a downtown  local,  or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 34 St-Penn Station, 14 St, or Canal St.    

At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound  trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I due to station renewal work on the Culver Line .  When finished, more than 27,000 daily customers will benefit from repaired staircases, fare control areas, walls, floors, platform girders, new platform windscreens, rubbing boards, tactile warning strips, improved lighting and artwork. 

• For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  train to Kings Hwy or 18 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  train to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, uptown  trains skip 14 St and 23 St due to electrical improvements.  Use a downtown  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at 34 St-Herald Sq or W 4 St-Wash Sq.    

At all times until early 2018, Manhattan-bound  trains skip 104 St due to station rehabilitation work.

• For service to this station, use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead. Or, take the Manhattan-bound  to 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound .
• For service from this stations use the nearby 111 St or Woodhaven Blvd stations instead. Or, take the Q56 bus and transfer to/from  service at nearby 111 St.

From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, to 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, Manhattan-bound  trains skip Flushing Av, Lorimer St, and Hewes St due to track replacement.  Use a Crescent St-bound  train to complete your trip. 

At all times until April 2018,  service is suspended in both directions between Myrtle Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs due to the Myrtle Viaduct Reconstruction project.   service will operate in two sections:

• Between Delancey-Essex St and Myrtle Av, and via the  to/from Broadway Junction, days/evenings.
• Between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.
• Free shuttle buses operate between Myrtle Av (Broadway) and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.

From 6:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4,  trains are suspended in both directions between Essex St and Broadway Junction due to track replacement.  For service between Essex St and Broadway Junction, take the  instead.      

From 9 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2,  service will end early between 71 Av and Essex St due to track maintenance.  Take the  or  instead. 

At all times until fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St due to station rehabilitation work at nine stations on the Sea Beach Line.  When finished, this will yield a better travel experience for our customers including the installation of elevators at 8 Av and New Utrecht Av stations, providing our mobility impaired customers with better accessibility, upgraded communication systems, installation of Help Point intercoms, new stairways and handrails, reconstructed platforms and overpasses, repairs to canopies and columns, and artwork.

• For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  to Bay Pkwy or 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the  Transfer between  and  trains at 36 St or Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

At all times until spring 2018,  trains skip 30 Av and 36 Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this repair, renovation and upgrade project is completed at the 30 Av and 36 Av stations, customers will benefit from an improved environment and features, such as: new security cameras and railings; repaired and renewed surfaces such as tile and concrete; enhanced signage for easier navigation, including digital, real-time train arrival information at entrances; glass and wire mesh platform windscreens; new indoor glass barriers; cost-saving LED lighting for increased light and transparency; and a new staircase for exiting from the 30 Av Astoria-bound platform to the street-level intersection of 30th Avenue and Newtown Avenue.

• Q102 to open Astoria line stations, Queensboro Plaza or Queens Plaza
• Q18 to Northern Blvd .
• Q66 to Steinway St , Northern Blvd , 21 St-Queensbridge , Queensboro Plaza , and Queens Plaza .
• Q69 and Q100 Ltd to 21 St-Queensbridge , Queens Plaza , Queensboro Plaza .

From 11:45 Friday, Feb. 2 to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains are rerouted via the  from Canal St to DeKalb Av due to signal maintenance.

From 9:45 Friday, Feb. 2 to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, Manhattan-bound  trains run express in Brooklyn from 59 St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr due to station improvements.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, Manhattan-bound  trains skip Broadway and 39 Av due to station enhancements.  Use an Astoria-bound  or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Queensboro Plaza or Astoria Blvd.  As a reminder, W service ends at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, and does not run on weekends.
