Alane Ball Chinian, Regional Director New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation; Brian Stratton, Director, New York State Canal Corp., and Montgomery County Executive Matthew L. Ossenfort will join representatives of state and local governments and trail users to officially open the Erie Canalway Trail bridge over the Otsquago Creek.

In June 2013, a severe flood struck western Montgomery County, washing out the east abutment for the bridge that carried the recreational trail over the Otsquago Creek in Fort Plain.  The damaged eastern span had to be removed as an emergency safety precaution, resulting in a gap in the trailway. The project to rebuild the Otsquago Creek Bridge on the Erie Canalway Trail in Fort Plain restored a link in the popular recreational trail in time for winter trail recreation.
